Susan is a Masters trained counseling psychologist with a Limited License in Psychology (LLP) working under the supervision of a Licensed Psychologist. Susan is a 1997 graduate of Pacifica Graduate Institute, in Carpinteria, California. Susan has been in private practice for many years, in addition, she was part of the adjunct faculty at Muskegon Community College, and she has worked at several different human services agencies.
Susan is currently involved in the evaluation of ADHD in children, adolescents and adults and is focusing on this work with Dr. Jansen-Yee. Another area of focus is her interest in the interaction between physical ailments and emotional problems. She teaches her clients to use their mind-body connection to achieve a greater experience of physical and emotional health and well-being.
Susan has special training to deal with trauma caused by extreme experiences and all types of abuse or neglect. She uses a technique called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to reduce the emotional reaction to the trauma.
Susan uses a variety of methods and techniques to address the needs of her clients. She has experience working with children, teens, and adults. In addition, Susan often works with families and extended families. Susan believes in empowering people to help themselves.
