Although we all treat a wide range of psychological issues, each clinician has developed specific areas of interest or expertise.
Dr Chris Jansen-Yee specializes in evaluation and treatment of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children, teens, and adults. A three session format for evaluation includes an interview and history, patient, parent and teacher questionnaires (if applicable), computerized assessment of attention with the TOVA and brief intelligence testing/screening for learning disorders with children and teens. This format allows for a more thorough evaluation than most pediatricians or primary care physician’s offices have the time for, and provides feedback if medication trials are warranted. Follow-up visits focus on education of ADHD issues, and coping strategies needed for school, work, or life.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has been highly effective in treating anxiety disorders, depression and mood disorders such as bipolar. Dr Jansen-Yee has successfully employed CBT to treat anxiety and other mood disorders. He enjoys helping individuals to understand the sources of their anxieties and how they can overcome them.
Robin Barris, MA, LLP has focused on women’s issues. This includes work with post-partum depression, domestic violence, emotional abuse, and divorce. She addresses self-esteem, assertiveness, parenting, and developing better relationship judgement. Additionally, she has recently begun working on treating psychological sleep disorders, such as chronic insomnia, racing mind, and sleep hygiene. She is working with neurologist Kevin Kellogg, MD in addressing these issues.
Susan Pavlik, MA, LLP is our newest addition to our staff and complements our services by assisting with ADHD evaluations with children, teens, and adults. Susan has a special interest in working with individuals to understand their mind-body connections, and using this connection to improve mental and physical health and well-being. She also brings expertise in treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She is a welcome addition to our staff and is currently accepting new patients.
We coordinate our services with area psychiatrists or your primary care physician. We can also refer you to specialized care such as inpatient and partial psychiatric hospital programs if needed.
